Advice on Contraception

Dr Arayomi’s surgery offers family planning procedures for coils and implants for all Essex patients (except Southend area) for intrauterine devices (IUD) and contraception implants (Nexplanon).There are no waiting list, as there are available appointments to see all suitable patients within a week of contacting the surgery. The IUD (coil) and implant are part of LARC procedures offered in the surgery.

The 2 contraception procedures currently being offered through our surgery:

Intrauterine device (IUD) / Coil

A small, T-shaped device made of plastic or copper that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. IUDs can last 5–10 years.

For IUD, we offer the following procedures:

• fitting
• exchange
• removal

Contraception Implant 

For a contraception implant, we offer the following procedures:

• fitting
• exchange
• removal
